Interestingly, the word “Kahuna” is a Hawaiian word defined originally as a priest, sorcerer, magician, wizard, or minister. By 1959, however, the term “Big Kahuna” was made popular by the film “Gidget” in describing a really big wave that all surfers long to ride.
